My macOS 26.5.2 install on a M1 Mac Studio keeps saying I have no storage left on the disk despite removal of all pictures and most big programs to external disks some 32TB. Does the main disk keep representations of these external drives? What’s going on?

More importantly how do I fix this? It now says 0 storage and won’t load the external disks.
