FIXED RESOLUTION AFTER UPDATE

My screen resolution has defaulted to 800 x 600 after an update and I cannot change it. I have a Nvidia 3060 GPU. Can someone help please?

That specific error happens when you update the driver for your NVIDIA 3060 GPU, but the new driver that you updated is not compatible with your existing Linux kernel. In other words the NVIDIA graphics driver and kernel have to be compatible with each other or else you'll get a low screen resolution.

How I know about how to solve this problem is that my Linux kernel was being held back by a phased update. I manually upgraded my kernel, and after rebooting the problem was solved.
