In the 2024 horror sequel "Smile 2", singer Skye Riley gets possessed by a demon (who was introduced in the first movie) that feeds on her fears, makes her hallucinate and prompt harmful behavior. Then, an unknown number contacts her, saying they can help her. When she meets him, he reveals himself as "Morris", and says his brother was possessed by the same demon earlier, which made his brother kill himself. He says he knows a way to stop the demon, and that is
the possessed person must die by some other means than suicide.
Morris : From what I can tell, the chain stops when an infected host dies in some other way outside of the being’s control. My guess is that, just like other parasites, without a living host it has no way to survive. It ceases to exist.
Skye : So it only stops if… if I die before it kills me?
Morris : Exactly. We need to kill you first.
Skye eventually agrees to his plan, and when she's at the planned location to carry out the plan, Morris suddenly leaves the room leaving Skye alone, saying "I just have to get something".
A while after that, the demon re-appears and takes control of Skye,
and she ends up committing suicide, failing the plan.
Morris is never shown in the movie after he leaves the room. The first guess would be Morris too was another hallucination shown to Skye by the demon, but it raises the question, "Why would the demon show Skye a way to defeat him?"
So, what really happened to Morris at the end? Were there any hints that proved or disproved the existence of Morris?
