the phrase is describing the individual that is innocently in the way and doesn’t know it. What is the saying for when someone gets a bad circumstance by chance but at the same time it’s like they always get into unfortunate situations most people would never go through in their life but it’s always happening to them. They aren’t aware really how unlucky they are but have an idea a little. Like understand they’re extremely unlucky but have accepted good things don’t happen often but bad things definitely will. Not being bitter just accepting, but also definitely aware. I’m trying to describe the best way I can and I’m not even sure if there’s an actual phrase or idiom I’m specifically looking for at this point. Maybe it’s become two different ones. The closest ones were (can’t win for losing, short end of the stick, if you didn’t have. As luck you’d have none) kinda collateral damage at no fault of your own, but in a common saying.
This came up because I was having a conversation about people selfishly doing something beneficial for them knowing and not caring that they’re essentially doing me down and really couldn’t be bothered to consider my situation or unfair hand, because all they think about is what’s beneficial for them. The phrase I'm after describes me in that situation.
