How to attach an oddly named shared drive (“Mummy's Drive”) on Linux?

How to attach an oddly named shared drive (“Mummy's Drive”) on Linux?

My son, in his wisdom, has named one of the shared drives on the server as “Mummy's Drive.”

I can get to it from both Windows and Android but I can't get to it from Linux.I have tried the following combinations, none of them have worked.

  • smb://cup@server/Mummy's Drive
  • smb://cup@server/Mummy\'s\ Drive
  • smb://"cup@server/Mummy's Drive"
  • smb://cup@"server/Mummy\'s\ Drive"
  • smb://"cup@server/Mummy'\s\ Drive - only 1 quote

I can get to it by giving the drive a different share name which does not have primes or spaces but I would really like to know how to attach to a share with primes in the directory name.

Linux version 5.10.224-antix.1-486-smp

Samba version is 4.22.3-Debian-4.22.3+dfsg-4~bpo12+1.0nosystemdl

Output of smbclient

    Sharename Type Comment
    --------- ---- -------
    ADMIN$ Disk Remote Admin
    C$ Disk Default share
    D Disk Main Data Drive
    D$ Disk Default share
    Documents Disk
    IPC$ IPC Remote IPC
    M$ Disk Default share
MDrive Disk Alternative to Mummy's Drive
    Microsoft Disk
    Mummy's Drive Disk
    Pictures Disk
    T$ Disk Default share
    V$ Disk Default share

I can get to the drive using MDrive but I would like to know how to access Mummy's Drive in case I'm on a system where I don't have the ability to set an alternative name.

Comment: It might help to do an ls on the dir to see what linux thinks the name is.
